System Engineer

Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for managing international information systems with a strong focus on network and server components to guarantee stability, continuity, and performance. You will take care of creating optimal structure and follow new developments within scope. You will be a part of the IT Operations EMEA/APAC team. You will work with amazing experts and will report to the IT Operations Manager.

 

What you can expect as a System Engineer?
Your primary tasks will include the following:
•    Efficiently manage the SQL environment and databases, ensuring optimal performance.
•    Guarantee the creation and implementation of maintenance plans for SQL Server environments.
•    Oversee backups and data recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity.
•    Conduct standard maintenance procedures to ensure the reliability of the SQL environment.
•    Assist with networking, server installations, and security tasks.
•    Install SQL servers, configure security settings, and establish connectivity.
•    Manage OTPC (Over the Public Cloud) connectivity to enhance network performance and connectivity across SQL environments.
•    Address and resolve any inquiries or issues related to the databases promptly.
•    Install and configure SQL Server environments, including security settings and connectivity.
•    Manage OTPC (Over the Public Cloud) connectivity for the SQL environment.
•    Actively participate in data management, optimizing data storage, and access methods.

 

You are preferably used to working in an international organization and actively collaborate with colleagues from different locations and other stakeholders. You work with a strong drive, are energized to achieve goals, and have a positive attitude. With your good communication skills, you know how to make a difference.

 

Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter most for this role):
•    Bachelor’s degree in Networking, System Engineering, or relevant
•    At least 4-5 years of experience with SQL database management in a similar environment 
• In-depth knowledge of standard enterprise platforms and applications (MS infrastructure software, virtualization software, backup software, antivirus software)
•    Experience in networking and connectivity with knowledge of Fortinet, Juniper, and wireless networks.
•    Good knowledge of security principles and firewall configurations.
•    Solid awareness of Windows Server environment and Azure cloud services.
•    Familiarity with monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds.
•    Solid communication skills and fluency in English.

 

An advantage would be:
•    Experience with VPN setup, ZScaler, and VMWare.
•    Proficiency in Dutch language
