Finance Controller

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance Controller plays a key role in overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. The new person will take charge of financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control. They will also be responsible for financial reporting to management and the board of directors, ensuring compliance with government regulations. Additionally, their role encompasses financial risk management.
WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
- Preparing month-end reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Providing accurate financial reports to management
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations
- Managing all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL and counsel, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition
- Coordinating and directing budget preparation and financial forecasts, while reporting variances
- Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements
- Managing cash flow
- Coordinating regulatory reporting preparation
- Researching technical accounting issues to ensure compliance
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WILL BE REQUIRED?
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Advanced degree in accounting
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Prior manufacturing experience is a strong plus
