As a Marketing Activation Manager at Scandinavian Tobacco Group, your main responsibility will be to develop and implement the local marketing strategy in close collaboration with central Brand Marketing and Commercial Excellence teams. You will be the link from strategy to execution and work closely with the sales team to ensure that the execution of the strategy is followed through. You will be responsible for the marketing activities in The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Your role will oversee all our activities across our core tobacco and non-tobacco categories. You will be based in Waalre (NL) or Lummen (BE), reporting directly to the BENELUX Country Director. The team currently consists of 7 people, and you will be having 5 direct reports.


What can you expect as a Marketing Manager at Scandinavian Tobacco Group?

  • Driving the development and execution of the local commercial plan, portfolio, price and activation strategy in close collaboration with global teams and the local sales teams.
  • Developing and executing marketing campaigns and activities: You will be responsible for creating and implementing effective B2B and B2C marketing campaigns to promote the company's products. This will involve identifying the target audience, creating messaging, and selecting the most effective channels to reach the target customer.
  • Collaborating with the sales teams: You will work closely with the sales team to ensure that the marketing campaigns and activities are integrated into the sales strategy and executed as per plan.
  • Be the engine to further develop our digital agenda with a focus on both B2B and B2C.
  • Conducting market research: You will be responsible for conducting market research to identify consumer trends, preferences, and behavior. This information will be used to inform the development of marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Managing budgets: You will be responsible for managing marketing budgets, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to achieve maximum impact.
  • Analyzing campaign performance: You will be responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and using this information to improve future campaigns.
  • Developing marketing materials: Together with your team, you will be responsible for developing marketing materials, such as brochures, advertisements, and promotional materials, to support the marketing campaigns both online and in traditional retail channels.
  • Managing external agencies: You will work closely with external agencies, such as advertising agencies and PR firms, to develop and execute marketing campaigns.
  • People leadership and stakeholder management: You will lead a team of 5 marketeers with different backgrounds and expertise, executing in both on and offline channels. In addition, you will be working in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders in HQ as well as in the local sales team. The role has significant exposure and needs to be able to navigate efficiently across hierarchies.


Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter the most for this role):

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field;
  • 5+ years of experience in tobacco or consumer goods marketing, with a focus on brand activation and experience in B2B and B2C marketing, both on and offline;
  • Experience in portfolio and price management;
  • Experience in product launches, in-store activation, and online activation;
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with market research and data analysis;
  • People Management experience;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Dutch language;
