Assistant General Manager

Summary:

Cigars International is searching for an enthusiastic and talented Assistant Manager to join our team. As a brand ambassador, you will play a key role in delivering a unique retail experience to our customers by effectively managing day-to-day operations in our store. We are seeking an individual who embodies our vision of creating the ultimate customer experience, possesses a background in retail and/or luxury goods, and demonstrates strong business acumen.

 

What can you expect as an Assistant Manager with Cigars International?

  • Develop strategic business development plans to ensure brand growth and long-term financial success.
  • Assist in establishing standards and objectives for the retail sales staff.
  • Educate and hold the sales team accountable to company goals, visual merchandising directives, product knowledge, and customer service standards.
  • Oversee and optimize daily routines of retail associates to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the store manager to set and achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Monitor store expenses and maintain adherence to the allocated budget.
  • Create and manage employee schedules.
  • Track progress towards store goals and drive results.
  • Execute all store operations and ensure satisfactory completion. This includes learning, overseeing, and   managing bar operations when needed.
  • Coach team members to reach their personal best.
  • Manage labor hours to meet the hourly wage goal set by the store manager.
  • Assign daily duties for deployment positions.
  • Monitor store systems to ensure proper functioning and maintenance (e.g., lighting, HVAC, humidification, water treatment, plumbing, alarm, and surveillance).
  • Availability to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
  • Move around the store and maneuver merchandise as required.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Engage with customers by helping throughout the store.

 

 

Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter the most for this role):

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience, preferably in a retail setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to input, retrieve, and analyze data.
  • Hands-on commitment to completing tasks.
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • General understanding of cigars and the cigar industry is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
