Payments Officer

JOB TITLE - Payments Officer 

LOCATION – Lisbon, Portugal 

HOURS - 40 

ABOUT THE ROLE -  

We have an incredible opportunity for a Payments Officer. As a Payments Officer, you will oversee automated and manual payment processes, addressing exceptions and rejections to ensure smooth and accurate financial transactions within the organization. 
 
WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR? 

  • Assist the Payments Lead in achieving objectives, fostering a collaborative environment, and addressing inefficiencies by proposing and implementing improvements. 

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all payments, including manual and automated transactions, while reviewing manual payment requests for compliance with payment policies. 

  • Coordinate with the Treasury Team to verify fund availability, prepare manual payment proposals (including checks), and secure necessary approvals. 

  • Work with stakeholders such as vendor helpdesk, IT, and vendors to investigate and resolve payment exceptions or discrepancies effectively. 

  • Implement validation checks to enhance payment accuracy and leverage payment management systems to optimize workflows and improve productivity. 

 

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WILL BE REQUIRED? 

  • Education: BA/BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance or a related field. 

  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in payment processing, financial operations, or similar roles. 

  • Proficiency in SAP S/4 HANA ERP and a solid understanding of STP (Straight Through Processing) systems and global payments processes. 

  • Strong understanding of financial operations, compliance requirements, and the global payments landscape. 

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
