Position: Technician
Location: Biyagama, within the Manufacturing Technical division of our Global Operations Business Unit.
About the Role:
As a Technician within our Manufacturing Technical - Asia department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficiency and reliability of our production operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a global leader in tobacco processing by ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. Your expertise will directly impact product quality, operational safety, and overall manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal functioning.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults, utilizing problem-solving skills to swiftly identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality control, and production departments to support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold manufacturing standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and parts inventories, utilizing company systems and documentation protocols.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
- Participate in training programs and development activities to continuously enhance technical skills and stay updated on emerging technologies relevant to manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to troubleshooting efforts during process disruptions and emergency situations, offering technical expertise to restore operations promptly.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of machinery operation, maintenance procedures, and safety standards applicable to industrial manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure to resolve urgent equipment issues.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and report technical information clearly.
