Sr. Database Administrator
Job Description:
Scandinavian Tobacco Group is seeking a self-motivated, highly experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team in Bethlehem, PA. This role is on-site in Bethlehem, PA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and a proven track record of managing and optimizing large-scale database environments. You will be available as needed 24x7 to ensure proper operation of our high-volume transactional systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge of database management best practices, ensuring SQL server health across dozens of servers, in both on premise and cloud environments. You will use SQL monitoring tools to ensure that our servers are monitored proactively, avoiding, and proactively resolving challenges such as low drive space, blocking, high CPU usage, and other performance impacting issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, document, and maintain complex database systems using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of databases.
- Perform database capacity planning, tuning, and optimization.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas.
- Implement and maintain database security policies.
- Conduct regular database audits and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior DBAs and other team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior DBA with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance tuning.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting languages.
- Experience using Redgate or other enterprise-level SQL monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of database security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in setting up and managing SQL clusters, SQL Always-On, and SQL log shipping.
- Analyze query execution plans, optimize SQL statements, and maintain efficient data retrieval and processing.
- Experience with Azure environments.
- Comfortability with Agile project management methodology.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics are a plus.
