MRC Category Director, Combustibles
-
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
-
Working hours: Full-time
-
Work model: Hybrid
-
Contract type: Permanent
Machine-rolled cigars (MRC) are Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s (STG) biggest business in Europe. In this role you’ll bring a strong focus on Commercial Product Management - owning the full commercial lifecycle of the product, across brand and portfolio architecture, price architecture, and go-to-market strategy — for our core revenue category and lead the team of Senior Commercial Product Managers who deliver it.
You’ll bring a deeper consumer focus and a performance culture to deliver our Focus 2030 strategic ambitions - growing market share, simplifying the portfolio, and maximizing value through pricing.
What your day will look like
In this role, you will typically focus on:
-
Hold full P&L accountability for the MRC category - STG’s core combustibles revenue engine.
-
Own the full commercial lifecycle of the product - brand and portfolio architecture, price architecture, and go-to-market strategy - across the full brand spectrum, from power brands (Signature, Panter, La Paz, Mehari’s) to local heroes.
-
Lead and develop the team of Senior Commercial Product Managers, building commercial judgment, P&L fluency, and analytical rigour across the team.
-
Translate consumer insight into concrete decisions on product, price, and go-to-market — building brand preference through product, price, and placement.
-
Drive revenue and margin realisation, prioritising high-margin SKUs and managing market and category mix, in close partnership with Revenue Growth Management and the Simplification team.
-
Strengthen our leading positions in our focus markets, France and Spain, and steward a complex, multi-segment portfolio with commercial coherence.
-
Prepare the portfolio for a shifting regulatory landscape (plain packaging, TPD3 regulation, etc.), shaping the products and positioning we take into regulated environments.
-
Partner end-to-end across operations, sales, finance, and insights, embedding consumer centricity as a shared responsibility.
What you’ll bring
-
Substantial experience in category management, commercial/product management, or revenue management ideally in FMCG or a comparable consumer goods environment.
-
A track record of owning a P&L and driving both topline and margin through portfolio, pricing, and mix decisions.
-
A Commercial Product Management mindset - comfortable upstream (product design, price architecture) and downstream (in-market execution, performance).
-
Strong consumer and commercial analytics skills; you generate, interpret, and act on data rather than waiting for it.
-
Proven ability to lead and grow a team, setting a high bar and building a culture where ownership is real and results are visible.
-
Experience operating in matrix organisations and partnering across functions and markets.
-
A proactive, growth-oriented attitude with the drive to lead change. Strong communication skills and a relevant degree.
