Driving in-market performance and execution in our sales organisation

As part of building our new Commercial Excellence team, we need an experienced sales operations manager who has a solid understanding of sales infrastructures in the context of sales performance and sales efficiency. The right candidate is capable to rolling out concrete processes and initiatives to improve sales performance, net sales and market share.   

 

The job:

To support our strategy, we need a Sales Operations Manager that will be responsible for France, Spain, Italy and Portugal in the Machine Made Cigar division. Main objective is to drive improvements of out go to market strategy and improve market execution.

You will be part of a new team where you will drive and create processes in cooperation with the sales entities to increase preparation, execution and optimization of our sales efforts. The key responsibilities are:

  • Support the markets in scope by improving in-market execution with particular focus on:
    • Distribution
    • Ranging
    • Visibility
    • Successful visits
  • Support markets in improving the market coverage with specific focus on:
    • Customer classification
    • Optimal visit frequency
    • Support on Sales force deployment
  • Support markets in optimizing their go to market (GTM) strategy: evaluate, look for improvement opportunities and close the existing gaps
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing or develop new tools that will support overall performance. Support defining a common language for the group.
  • Analyze and use findings to improve the current cycle plan process.
  • Ensure the markets fully utilize the existing tools such as STG Connect and Salesforce.com
  • Support in developing and transforming our sales organization into more data driven organizations that will enable net sales and market share growth

 

You will report to the Director of Commercial Excellence MMC and work closely with the Commercial Excellence team, coordination with other sales operations managers inside and outside the division, markets and other key stakeholders in the markets and head office. You will ideally be working out of our office in Nanterre, Paris and 20-30 travel days per year should be expected.

 

Experience in sales operations combined with initiative is expected

You have at least 5/10 years of experience within sales operations, sales analysis or sales in FMCG and have a proven track record in optimizing sales performance. You are a self-starter, independent worker, like to improve processes and finding ways to improve. You know the importance of supporting your ideas with facts and tangible proof of evidence in the process of selling in changes. You work in a structured manner, think strategically as well as analytically and have outstanding communication skills that help you successfully manage external and internal stakeholder. A theoretical foundation to support your business experience as well as fluency in English is a requirement.

 

About Commercial Excellence

The Machine Made Cigar Division (MMC) includes all STG’s major MMC markets and represent the vast majority of our sales of the Strategic Brands Café Crème, La Paz, Gold and Mercator. The division is responsible for approximately 25% of the group’s revenue.

 

Our new Commercial Excellence department is in place since 1st January, after STG decided to change its operating model.  We will be responsible to drive in- market execution for the machine-made cigars division.  This new team has 7 members, that reports to the Director Commercial Excellence. Our purpose is to secure an excellent route to market execution for the countries in scope and increase market shares and reach financial objectives in our key machine made cigar markets: Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, UK and Asia .
